Servicing & Repairs

Domestic Machines

Domestic coffee machines require periodical maintenance and servicing. This may include simply replacing the group head seal that typically lasts 6-12 months depending upon usage. (Not all machines have group head seals)

Scale is a major risk in our area and is the number one issue for all machines; domestic and commercial. Mostly, if you have a scale problem – often causing a blockage - it will need to be manually cleaned out. The only way to minimise scale is to always use filtered water with dedicated scale removing filters.

Periodically, domestic machines simply need to be checked out, parts lubricated, back-flushed, cleaned and tested to be fully operational. This is typically a minor service.

A variety of fully automatic machines have a number of "O" rings that tend to grow or get hard with use over time. These can be easily changed as part of a service to ensure your machine functions properly and doesn't leak.

Commercial Machines

Due to serious health issues in 2024, I am unable to provide any commercial coffee machine work until further notice. I am not permitted to drive until at least mid 2025, plus someone has stolen most of my commercial machine servicing tools (when I was in hospital). I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Commercial Breakdowns

As per my above note I am unable to carry out any commercial machine work for the foreseeable future.

Despite the best maintenance, commercial machines can break down from time to time. I am adept at diagnosing issues, making recommendations and/ or helping with workarounds to get you going. I have a selection of parts available that are the most common cause of failure and am available to help you get back up and running as soon as possible.

Grinders

All grinders have blades (burrs) that wear out eventually. There are many types and sizes of burrs available for the different grinders on the market. Sharp burrs will grind coffee better and more evenly than when worn, so it is worthwhile replacing the burrs periodically—typically, after grinding 500kg of beans

Other Services

Installations

I am happy to help you install and setup your new domestic machine or commercial equipment as required.

Maybe you need some basic plumbing or the installation of a filter assembly as part of your new installation. I am happy to assist you.

Rebuilds

Some machines are just old or have been left unused in a shed for a long time. These machines can be rebuilt and restored to work again with inspection and cleaning from one end to the other.

I have the skills to repair copper tubing, fittings, hoses etc. as required. I can make parts or find replacements that fit if they are no longer available. I enjoy the challenge of taking something that doesn't work and returning it to useful service.

I regard these as spare-time projects and can do this work for you on a longer timeframe that will reduce the cost to you overall.

Speak to me if you have a project coffee machine that you want to do something with.

Electrical Components

All coffee machines that are plugged into the mains power (rather than stovetop) have a variety of electrical components within them. These parts can fail from time to time but can be a minor expense to repair. Some electrical components such as control boxes can be expensive to replace if they fail. I have repaired some control boxes and will attempt to do so before throwing the old part out. I am adept at diagnosing faulty components and will be happy to advise on what can be done and what is beyond my skills.
